Alaska State Geographic Bee






To encourage geographic literacy and knowledge by providing school, state, and national level contest with fabulous prizes.  The contest is designed to encourage teachers to include geography in their classrooms, spark student interest in the subject, and increase public awareness about geography.



GRADE LEVELS: 4-8



DEADLINES/NOTABLE EVENTS:
•    There is a fall deadline to sign up (fee required) with the National Geographic Society (NGS) to have a school geographic bee.  All school bee materials provided by NGS.
•    School bees take place from mid-November to mid-January.
•    State bees take place in late March or early April. The winner of the state bee goes on to compete in the National Geographic Bee in Washington, DC in May.
